Hollywood icon Julia Roberts has stepped into the limelight as a creative force in the world of haute joaillerie. The actress has joined forces with Chopard’s co-president and artistic director, Caroline Scheufele, to present an exclusive jewellery collection.

This one-of-a-kind jewellery suite showcases a mesmerising blend of emeralds, turquoise, and rubellites, capturing the essence of Hollywood glamour infused with a bohemian spirit.

At the heart of the collection are the extraordinary emeralds cut from the Insofu, a colossal 6225-carat emerald unearthed from the Kagem mine in Zambia, renowned as the largest emerald mine globally.

Acquired by Caroline Scheufele at auction in 2018, the Insofu emerald patiently awaited its moment, hidden in the Chopard vaults. Meticulously studied by expert gem cutters, it has now been transformed into a radiant display of gemstone craftsmanship.

In an exclusive interview with Town & Country, Roberts shared her enthusiasm for the project, describing the collaboration as a “dreamy” experience. The actress expressed her astonishment at the meticulous process of studying and shaping the gems, emphasising the novice’s perspective that makes the journey all the more enchanting.

Roberts and Scheufele engaged in a collaborative process, exchanging ideas, inspirations, and sketches to bring the collection to life. Turquoise, Roberts’s favourite stone and main piece in the collection symbolises grounding and fascination. The vibrant and intentional designs pay homage to India, a place that holds a profound influence on Roberts and adds a personal touch to the collection.

Caroline Scheufele highlighted the significance of the Insofu emerald, describing it as a “hugely important stone for Chopard” with its beautiful hue and strong energy.

As the collection is unveiled, Roberts reflects on the artistic process, drawing parallels between creating jewellery and her own creative pursuits. The actress emphasises the importance of intention and effort, suggesting that the collection is more than a breathtaking display—it is a tangible manifestation of dedication and creativity.

Looking ahead, Roberts expresses a desire for future collaborations, seeing the collection as the first step in what promises to be an enduring creative partnership with Chopard.
