Trollbeads is more than just a jewellery brand. It is a passion project that emerged from the renowned Danish design legacy of simplicity, functionality, and quality. Founded by Lise Aagaard in 1976, the company has remained true to its roots, focusing on helping people capture their memories and express their stories and essence through jewellery.
The Trollbeads family business started when her brother, silversmith Søren Nielsen, created a six-faced silver bead. In Lise’s jewellery store in Copenhagen, she began putting Søren’s beads on silver bracelets, adding one bead to each. One day, a customer asked her to put an extra bead on their bracelet, leading to the birth of the world-famous bead-on-bracelet concept and the Trollbeads company.
The vast choice of beads provides a unique experience for jewellery lovers worldwide to physically capture their memories in meaningful objects and express their styles. Their ethos has remained unchanged, with the brand’s focus on creating beautiful pieces that carry deep personal meaning for the wearer. By infusing each piece with the individual stories of their customers, the brand creates a deep connection between their customers and their jewellery, making it more than just an accessory but an extension of their narrative.
Trollbeads offers a unique collection of interchangeable jewellery pieces centred around the beads. Each piece has its history, taking inspiration from mythology, astrology, fairy tales, fauna, spirituality, cultural diversity, and everyday life. The diverse range of products includes beads on bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings, and accessories, allowing customers to become the designer of their jewellery and tell their stories.
Lise Aagaard recently embarked on a thrilling journey to Australia to launch the next phase of her unique bead-on-bracelet jewellery brand in Australia this year. As a part of this exciting adventure, Lise held a once-in-a-lifetime event for the brand’s passionate fans at the Trollbeads flagship store on Chapel Street in Melbourne.
Trollbeads now offers 5,000 collectible beads in its range of interchangeable bracelets, earrings, and rings. Remarkably, the production of those beads remains unchanged. “Our beads are still made very traditionally,” Lise said. “I come from a jewellery family, so craftsmanship and top-quality materials are the foundation of my brand.”
Over the years, Trollbeads buyers collect beads and use them to build their life stories in the jewellery they wear, interchanging them as their stories develop. Thus, a very personal connection to the brand. Lise has returned home, but this is just the beginning of Trollbeads in Australia.
