Police have seized counterfeit designer-label jewellery during raids in central Sydney.

City Central Local Area police officers raided a Darling Harbour souvenir store on Friday (March 19) and uncovered Chanel, Dior, Gucci and Louis Vuitton jewellery worth approximately $100,000.

Police are continuing their inquiries and, while no arrests have been made at this stage, it’s expected a number of people will face Commonwealth charges in the future.

City Central Local Area commander Superintendent Mick Fuller said the operation sends a strong warning to people trading counterfeit goods.

“This is not the first operation of this type that we’ve conducted and it won’t be the last,” he said.

“Police continue to working closely with industry groups and the community to detect and stamp out the trade of counterfeit goods.

“I’d encourage anyone with information on the manufacture and/or distribution of fake items to contact police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
