Bruce Cleaver, CEO of De Beers, has announced his intention to step down from the role early next year. His successor will be Al Cook, a mining executive previously with Equinor, Norway’s state-owned energy company.

By 2023, Cleaver will have been in the role for seven years – a record amongst De Beers’ most recent chief executives. He will become De Beers’ co-chair along with Anglo American CEO Duncan Wanblad.
