Six years after launching Piccolo Children’s Jewellery Collection in Australia, Oro Bello Jewellery has begun exporting the brand to South East Asia and North America.
Designed in Australia and manufactured in Italy, the nine carat gold and sterling silver jewellery collection features brightly coloured enamel elements and charms in a wide variety of designs with child-appeal including beetles, butterflies, cupcakes, daisies, airplanes, cars and soccer balls.
Oro Bello director Felicity Van Wyk said she created the brand to fill a gap for a quality and stylish children’s jewellery line in the local market.
“The philosophy that underpinned the creation of Piccolo Children’s Jewellery Collection was to provide an exciting alternative from the traditional style of children’s jewellery,” she said.
“Too often children’s jewellery in the Australian market lacks quality and style.
“As well as colourful new designs, we ensure all our items are of superior quality whilst maintaining affordability.
“Piccolo has therefore become a well-accepted alternative to the traditional style of children’s jewellery that has been around since I was a child.”
Van Wyk said the brand, currently stocked in approximately 200 stores around Australia, will now also be stocked in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia as well as the US and Canada.
She said that in August 2013 Oro Bello was approached by a Singaporean company wanting to be exclusive distributor of Piccolo in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia and was then approached three months later by a Canadian company wanting to distribute the brand across Canada and the US.
“We are very excited and proud about these developments for our Piccolo brand,” said Van Wyk.
“The company is currently in talks with a Polish company and a South African company which are interested in distributing Piccolo in their respective regions.
