Rio Tinto has created a white and champagne diamond encrusted tiara to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Chinese jeweller, Chow Tai Fook. The ‘Nature’s Glow’ tiara, set with diamonds from Rio Tinto’s Argyle mine, was crafted as a tribute to the strategic partnership between Rio Tinto and Chow Tai Fook.
Rio Tinto Diamonds managing director Jean-Marc Lieberherr said the tiara will be the headline piece in an Argyle diamond jewellery selection that will be showcased in key cities in China next month as “a symbol of the innovative partnership that now has Chow Tai Fook retailing Argyle diamonds from the majority of its 2000 stores in Greater China”.
“Chow Tai Fook is one of the great jewellery companies of the world and over the past five years Rio Tinto has been delighted to work with it to develop the fashion jewellery market in China,” he said. “This powerful partnership has enabled opportunities to grow the Chinese market for diamonds in ways we could only dream of less than five years ago.”
The partnership between Rio Tinto and Chow Tai Fook, inaugurated at the Shanghai World Expo in 2010, has led to five Chow Tai Fook fashion jewellery collections featuring Argyle diamonds. The most recent collection, the ‘Chow Tai Fook Sunshine’ collection, will be launched in October and promoted under the banner of ‘Light up your life with Australian Diamonds’.
Chow Tai Fook managing director Kent Wong said hte company was very proud of its partnership with Rio Tinto and was delighted to launch the ‘Chow Tai Fook Sunshine’ collection.
“These jewellery pieces are exquisite examples of the creative collaboration that exists between Australia and China – beautiful Australian diamonds have found their way into the finest of bespoke Chinese jewellery,” he said.
