Sydney jeweller Kate McCoy has joined forces with wedding planner Bree Taylor to create ‘Mr Baxter’ – a business designed to help men “execute a memorable proposal”.

Describing ‘Mr Baxter’ as “every woman’s fantasy, every man’s best friend”, McCoy said that by combining jewellery designing and event planning expertise, Mr Baxter will be able to “take care of the entire proposal process” for men including budgets, diamond buying and ring designs.

“Whilst there is an over-supply of information for the bride-to-be market on how to plan for the big day, there is very limited information and resources for would-be grooms,” she said.

“Mr Baxter provides grooms-to-be with the perfect platform to ask the questions that inevitably arise when preparing to propose. The service allows men to speak candidly with two experts in a non-confronting, private environment where confidentiality is paramount.”

Taylor added that as a wedding planner, she knows how daunting the actual proposal process and the pressure “to excel” can be for men.
“There are two things a woman is asked when she announces she is engaged: Show us the ring and how did he propose. I have been privy to some fantastic and not-so fantastic stories…”

Both McCoy and Taylor believe the engagement can and should be the groom’s moment to shine.

“The entire proposal planning process above all, needs to be personal. Men deserve to feel special, on top of their game, confident, knowledgeable and genuine.”

McCoy is a gemmologist, diamond grader, diamond dealer and jewellery designer.

Her pieces have been featured in various magazines including Vogue Australia and Vogue Italia, and have also been worn on television programs such as Sunrise, Dancing with the Stars and The Jimmy Kimmel Show.
