ICMS Professional Scholarship 2015 recipients
Michael Hill Jeweller has partnered with the International College of Management, Sydney to create the Michael Hill Scholarship for retail marketing students.
Sir Michael Hill collaborated with Ann Whitelock Courtney-O’Connor, chairperson of the Aspiring Education Foundation, to create a scholarship which advances the professional careers of ICMS retail marketing students through financial support and industry training.
Retail marketing is a key specialisation in the Bachelor of Business Management at ICMS. The Michael Hill Scholarship will be awarded to students of ICMS retail marketing or business management. Selection will be merit based with scholarships awarded annually for three years from 2016. Scholarship recipients will receive a $10,000 tuition fee waiver and the opportunity to work at Michael Hill and “gain skills in applied retail management”.
This type of hands-on experience is a hallmark of ICMS with all students completing industry training as part of their studies. Courtney-O’Connor said the rationale behind the ICMS Professional Scholarship Program is “to build on the ICMS philosophy which underpins academic learning with real experience.”
“While all ICMS students are placed in employment for six to nine months as part of their studies, scholarship students will gain additional experience, financial support, and the public endorsement of their academic success which will continue to distinguish them long after they have graduated.”
