Swiss watch brand Maurice Lacroix has signed world champion and Olympic Swimmer James Magnussen as a new ambassador.

Nicknamed the Missile, James Magnussen became the 100m freestyle world champion in 2011 at the FINA World Championships and took home a silver medal in the 100m freestyle and a bronze medal in the 4 x 100m medley relay at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Now with his sights set on the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Magnussen said he is proud to be partnered with one of the world’s leading prestige watch brands.

“The heritage stylish design coupled with the new innovate sporting features suits my lifestyle perfectly,” he said.

Maurice Lacroix marketing manager Christopher Leigh said the stylish design and sporting spirit of the brand’s new Pontos collection is the perfect choice for a world champion swimmer and will serve James well “in and out of the pool”.

“Maurice Lacroix is all about the confident expression of oneself, having individual goals and personal values in life and never compromising them,” he said.

“We are absolutely delighted to be working with someone like James Magnussen for everything he has achieved and as he heads towards his second Olympic Games at Rio 2016.”

Since the launch of its first watch model in 1975, Maurice Lacroix has grown to become a sought-after manufacture brand, with its factories producing complex components for its own in-house mechanical calibers.
