To salute the traditional Chinese calendar system, Frederique Constant has launched the Manufacture Zodiac 24H for the Year of the Goat.
The 24-hour watch (the hour hand completes a circle once every 24 hours while the minute hand completes a circle once every 120 minutes) features the twelve Chinese zodiac signs (rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig) rather than traditional Arabic or Roman numerals with the six o’clock position marked ‘year of goat’.
Each zodiac period (equivalent to two hours) is divided into eight “quarters” (original quarter, original first quarter, original second quarter, original third quarter, positive quarter, positive first quarter, positive second quarter and positive third quarter) which each represent 15 minutes of time.
To make time-telling easier for those not expert at reading the traditional Chinese calendar system the watch also includes the numbers 1-24 on the inner dial “to function as the GMT indicator to show what exact time the hour is”.
Featuring Frederique Constant’s in-house movement FC-724, the watch will be limited to 888 editions globally in stainless steel and 888 editions in polished rose gold plated steel.
