Another individual has been charged in connection with the Germani jewellery store robbery that took place earlier this year. This latest arrest brings the total number of individuals charged to five.
Michel Germani, the 65-year-old owner of Germani, was taken into custody in May after the police claimed that he had orchestrated his own robbery in order to deceive his insurance company and fraudulently obtain more than $2.8 million. He is currently facing charges of robbery and fraud, and he still remains before the courts.
Following further investigations, the detectives from Strike Force Ingestre executed an arrest at Burwood police station on Tuesday, apprehending a man believed to be involved in the crime. The individual has been charged with being an accessory before the fact of aggravated robbery, as well as charges related to depriving a person of liberty and participating in a criminal group.
The accused individual was scheduled to appear in Burwood Local Court yesterday. Additionally, two men aged 37 and 57, as well as a 57-year-old woman, have also been charged in connection with the alleged hoax and also still remain before the courts.
