Chopard retailers, wholesalers and customers were special guests of the high-end jewellery company at the premiere of Woody Allen’s latest film, Midnight in Paris, in Sydney.
Hosted by Chopard’s Asia Pacific managing director Patrick Normand, the premiere at the Dendy Opera Quays cinema was sponsored by the jewellery company and Air France.
Speaking after the film screening, Norman said that as Chopard has a close affinity with film festivals and is the official partner of the Cannes Film Festival, it was “natural” to sponsor the Sydney premiere of Midnight in Paris which was the opening film at this year’s Cannes and was also “incidentally directed and produced by Woody Allen, a close friend of Chopard’s co-president, Caroline Scheufele”.
He added that the company’s current watch and jewellery sales in Australia are “excellent”.
“We have been growing much faster than the Swiss watch luxury industry in Australia and we definitely see much potential in this country for luxury purchases.”
He said the next 12 months are going to be exciting for the brand, which is currently represented in 15 retailers in Australia, as “we gain pace with the launch of Basel 2012 novelties in March next year and possibly explore alliances with local events which reflect the glamour and prestige of Chopard”.
