Chanel’s stunning new high jewellery collection pays tribute to founder, Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel’s obsession with tweed. Patrice Leguérea, director of Chanel’s fine jewellery creation studio incorporated these motifs into this year’s offering.
Honouring the French Maison’s traditional touchpoints and legacy, Leguérea debuted the incredible collection of 63 new high jewellery pieces. Tweed has long been synonymous with the Chanel brand and this incorporation perfectly encapsulates the brand’s essence.
The collection contains five new tweed jewellery weaves in five different colours, incorporating Coco-coded themes such as the ribbon, camellia, star, sun, and lion. “The idea was to penetrate more deeply into the material, to zoom in on the detail and to enrich this founding theme of the house with even more precious design and craftsmanship. I wanted to weave a tweed from precious stones, to create bolder shapes, to compose a unique story with every piece in the collection,” Leguérea says.
The collection includes a pink and white gold Tweed Camélia necklace, set with diamonds and pink sapphires, a yellow gold Tweed Byzance brooch, set with diamonds and beryls, a yellow and white gold Tweed Royal bracelet, set with diamonds and rubies, a yellow and white gold Tweed Astral ring, set with diamonds, yellow diamonds, sapphires, and onyx, and a white gold Tweed Ruban earrings, set with diamonds.
