Diamond Guild Australia is calling for expressions of interest for its third biennial diamond awards.
Due to be held in September, the biennial awards competition is open to “invited” jewellery designers from around Australia.
According to Diamond Guild Australia chairman Robert Musson, entries will be judged on “uniqueness, innovation and originality” in five categories:
Solitaire – Design and manufacture a diamond ring that features one single diamond.
Fancy Fancy – Design and manufacture a piece of fine jewellery consisting of predominantly fancy diamond cuts and or fancy diamond colours.
Reinvention – To take an existing ‘client owned’ piece of jewellery and recreate it into a new piece, using elements of its design, diamonds and structure.
Gents – Design and manufacture a piece of jewellery exclusively for men.
Red Carpet – Design and manufacture a piece of fine jewellery full of glamour and befitting the modern red carpet event.
Musson said all entries must feature only natural diamond(s) “free from any enhancements and treatments” and must be made “using predominantly precious metals”.
