The Jewellery Industry Fair in Sydney recently concluded with resounding success, marking a milestone for the industry with its vibrant showcase of innovation, craftsmanship, and community. The fifth Fair from the Jewellery Industry Network, held at the iconic Carriageworks over two days on the 17th and 18th of August, the fair attracted over 800 guests and featured more than 70 exhibitors and businesses, offering a dynamic platform for networking, learning, and celebrating the best in the jewellery industry.
A Vibrant Gathering of Industry Leaders
The fair saw a remarkable turnout, with over 70 companies and exhibitors showcasing a diverse range of products and services. From precious metals provided by Morris & Watson to cutting-edge tools from Tappa Tools, and exquisite pearls displayed by Devino, the exhibition floor was a treasure trove of industry highlights. Attendees were treated to an array of coloured gemstones, diamonds, fine jewellery, and unique brands, all set against the creative and relaxed atmosphere of Carriageworks.
A significant addition to this year’s fair was the Between the Lugs Watch Fair, featuring approximately 20 watch brands. This exciting new element enriched the event’s offerings and is set to become a staple in future fairs.
Women in Jewellery Panel and Breakfast: A Sold-Out Success
One of the most anticipated events was the Women in Jewellery Panel and Breakfast. With over 75 women attending, the panel sold out online, demonstrating the strong interest in empowering discussions within the industry. The panel, hosted by Janelle O’Connell from Calleija, featured leading women such as Nadia Neuman from Mondial by Nadia Neuman, Jenny Sher from Chemgold, Brigitte Zollo from Aurum Jewels, and Alana Weirick and Lauren Sommer from Moi Moi.
The discussion centered on building legacy brands, overcoming business challenges, and navigating the unique paths that led these women to their current roles. The conversation sparked engaging debates about the future of innovative business models and the importance of self-belief in the competitive jewellery industry.
Guest Features: A Touch of Luxury
The Jewellery Industry Fair wasn’t just about business; it was also about creating a memorable experience for all attendees. Guests were welcomed with a complimentary glass of bubbles on arrival, setting a celebratory tone for the event. They also received a packed showbag, featuring polishing cloths from Connoisseurs, branded pens, and other goodies. A free headshot service by Richard Weinstein was available on-site, and a podcast recording station, courtesy of Smarter Productions, allowed guests to capture and share their insights from the event. As always, a free shuttle bus service ensured smooth travel to and from Carriageworks.
Exhibitor Excellence and Expert Insights
Exhibitor quality was a highlight of the fair, with a stunning display of unique stones and high-calibre brands that drew the attention of attendees. The fair also featured a series of expert presentations on globally significant topics. Representatives from the World Diamond Council, ICA and The GIA discussed important industry issues such as changes to the Kimberley Process and the importance of accurate diamond testing tools. Other sessions covered topics including scam awareness, diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and trust-based selling.
Workshops provided additional value, with sessions on design techniques led by Jennifer Rowlands and procreate design workshops by Samantha Kelly, offering practical knowledge and skills to attendees.
Showcase Jewellers: Private Members’ Area
Members of Showcase Jewellers enjoyed their own exclusive area within the fair, where they participated in specialized training sessions on Saturday. The luxurious setting, complete with a cannoli cart, offered plenty of networking and buying opportunities, making it a productive and enjoyable experience for all involved.
Inaugural Industry Awards: A Night to Remember
Saturday evening culminated in the inaugural Jewellery Industry Awards, presented by the Jewellery Industry Network. Held at the fair’s soiree, the awards were a welcome addition to the industry’s calendar, celebrating the achievements of individuals and businesses. Supported by Palloys Cocktails and attended by over 160 guests, the event featured live music, delicious food, and an atmosphere of celebration.
The awards received an overwhelming response, with over 100 individuals nominated and more than 3,500 votes cast. The introduction of these awards added a new layer of recognition and appreciation for the industry’s hard work and dedication.

Both Melbourne and Sydney will host the JIF next year, as the Jewellery Industry Network remains committed to building sustainable assets and benefits for the community all year round.
