Time is running out for jewellers and others wanting to enter this year’s ‘Queen of Gems’ International Boulder Opal Jewellery Awards.
Organised by the Queensland Boulder Opal Association, the closing date for entry to the awards is June 15.
The competition is open to “professional and non-professional designers, students, graduates, teachers, jewellers, goldsmiths, etc” in four categories:
1. Student/Novice
Design Drawing A4 size hand-coloured
2. Novice/Non-professional
Any piece of jewellery total cost value up to $1500
3. Apprentice/Student
Any piece of jewellery total cost value up to $1500
4. Professional
Any piece of jewellery with an unlimited total cost value
The prize winners will be announced and presented with their prizes at the Winton Opal Tradeshow in July.
The QBOA is a non-profit industry body made up of people involved mostly, but not exclusively, in the boulder opal industry, such as miners, cutters, wholesalers, manufacturers and members of various government bodies.
