Michael Hill has announced the reopening of 148 stores across from 30 May, with 100 being in Australia and 25 in New Zealand. The company says more stores will open progressively over the coming month.
All 301 of the company’s stores had ceased trading in late March and in the meanwhile, management has spent time re-evaluating the store network, customer demographic and store profitability. Some underperforming stores will not be reopening: five Australian stores, three in New Zealand and one in Canada with more closures likely to come.
A company statement reports that digital sales have broken the previous Christmas records over the last three weeks of lockdown in Australia.
