Maxum Watches has signed the stars of the soon-to-be released movie, Fighting Fear, to its ‘Team Maxum’.
Big wave riders Mark Matthews and Richie Vas are the stars of the Australian feature-length documentary which is due to be released in cinemas on November 10.
The documentary, filmed over three years, is based on the lives of Matthews and Vas offering “a unique insight into two world-class athletes and their personal challenges in sports with deadly consequences”.
It is directed by Marcario De Souza, a co-director of the 2007 documentary Bra Boys, which became the highest grossing cinematic documentary in Australian history.
Announcing Maxum’s signing of Matthews and Vas as well as its sponsorship of Fighting Fear, general manager Justin Veil said all three connect with the company’s key demographics in the surfing and extreme sport arenas.
“Being an all Australian brand, we stand behind Australian film and sporting talent and the inspirational message the film delivers…. which is to push yourself beyond the limits, deal with adversity head on and know you can achieve the best.”
He added that while the company will continue to support Australian surfing talent it would broaden its coverage to include extreme action sports next year.
Richie Vas said he was “stoked” to be aligned with Maxum Watches while Matthews said it was great to have the support o f the company “whose direction is 100% aligned with the journey Richie and I have taken during the filming of Fighting Fear“.
