Ole Lynggaard Copenghan is planning to open a flagship store in the Sydney CBD later this year as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.
The Danish family-owned jewellery brand currently has 22 retail outlets in Australia and New Zealand.
Ole Lynggaard Australia and New Zealand manager Kamilla van Der Velde said the opening would coincide with the launch of the company’s 2013/14 advertising campaign featuring brand ambassador Helena Christensen (pictured).
“2013 is a very significant and exciting milestone for Ole Lynggaard,” she said
“This year is our 50 year anniversary and we can proudly say that we are now one of northern Europe’s biggest jewellery houses with substantial growth all over Europe and Australia as well as in parts of Asia.”
Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen was established in 1963 by Danish goldsmith Ole Lynggaard, who, after having studied and worked in Germany, France, the United States and Japan, returned to his home country and bought a small workshop.
Charlotte Lynggaard, his daughter, who is a goldsmith and designer like her father, joined the company in 1992. Søren, his son, assumed management in 2003, and Michel Normann, Charlotte´s husband, became commercial director in 2006.
Van Der Velde said the brand was introduced to the Australian and New Zealand markets in 2008 with “unparalleled success”.
“Our success is based on our close partnership with our retailers who share and understand high quality jewellery and how to sell a luxury brand,” she said.
“Our strategy is focused on developing exclusive distribution of our jewellery to only a limited number of stockists.
“We look for retailers who understand the craftsmanship and selling a timeless high-end luxury brand and people we can work in close cooperation with in the long-term.
“I personally believe a key factor to our success is based on one of our company’s key values, ‘Passion’ – everyone in our company from our goldsmiths in Denmark to our retailers’ staff are passionate about our brand.
“We all love what we sell, we love wearing it and therefore it is very easy to sell it to others.”
In Denmark the company will celebrate its birthday at the Elle Style Awards next month where the winner’s statuette as well as several couture dresses and jewellery pieces especially designed for the event by Charlotte Lynggaard will be unveiled.
