Jewellery designers have just two weeks left to enter the 2011 International Boulder Opal Jewellery Design Awards.
Jewellery designers have just two weeks left to enter the 2011 International Boulder Opal Jewellery Design Awards.
The closing date for entries in the competition, which is run by the Queensland Boulder Opal Association, is June 14.
QBOA secretary Narelle Banning said the competition aims to showcase modern boulder opal jewellery through “the limitless creative energies of our designers/jewellers”.
There are four categories in the competition:
Category 1 – Design Drawing (open to all students and novices of jewellery design)
Category 2 – Open to novices and non-professionals with the entered piece having a total cost value up to $1500
Category 3 – Open to apprentices and students with the entered piece having a total cost value up to $1500
Category 4 – Open to professional designers/jewellers with the entered piece having a total cost value up to $25,000
Banning said designs will be judged on how well the opal’s natural beauty is utilised to enrich and intensify the design.
The winning entries will be announced at a design awards dance on July 8 during the 2011 Winton QBOA Opal Tradeshow.
