The 2014 JAA Australasian Jewellery Awards ceremony will be held at the new home of the International Jewellery Fair – the Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island – on September 1.
According to JAA CEO Ian Hadassin, the association is pleased to be working with fair organiser Expertise Events to “bring together two industry events under one roof”.
He said the joining of the events opens the door for greater exposure to the designers who enter the Awards.
Apart from the Awards ceremony, the JAA will also be hosting a ‘Meet the Designers’ event at the Fair from August 31 to September 2 to give finalists an opportunity to showcase their work and meet jewellery retailers from around Australia and New Zealand.
“Finalists from all categories will be invited to take part in the exhibition by sharing the inspiration behind their piece, showing their work in progress through photographs, drawings and sketches, and being onsite to talk about their journey of designing and crafting their work,” Hadassin said.
“With over 5000 industry participants taking part in the fair over three days, what better way to showcase some of the best emerging and established jewellers in Australia and New Zealand.
“It’s also an opportunity for the industry to get a bird’s eye view of what is actually involved in creating stunning pieces of jewellery.”
Now in its 23rd year, the JAA Australasian Jewellery Awards aims “to provide a platform for jewellers and innovators from all design fields with different experience levels, and market focus to compete on while providing them a global audience to showcase their success and talents”.
Entries for the 2014 JAA Australasian Jewellery Awards close on June 6.
