Cleopatra, a collection of striking matt brush gold-plated pendants, rings, bangles and earrings, was a major attraction at Ikecho’s stand during the three-day JAA Australian Jewellery Fair in Melbourne.
Ikecho director Erica Madsen said the new collection was created to meet consumer demand for “the look of gold at silver prices”.
“Silver has been in fashion for a number of years now so a lot of customers are looking to inject a bit of gold back into their jewellery wardrobes but they don’t want to pay for solid gold,” she said.
“We therefore decided to create a new collection in yellow gold plating to give consumers the look they want at a price they can afford. And what better way to celebrate the launch of the collection than by naming it after Cleopatra, the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt who was renowned for her beauty and power as well as her love of gold jewellery.
Retail prices for the Cleopatra gold-plated collection start at $149.
Madsen stressed however that the collection is also available in sterling silver.
