Bell & Brunt, a cornerstone of Adelaide’s jewellery scene, is in the midst of an ambitious renovation project to redefine its legacy. With a century-long tradition of excellence, Bell & Brunt now sets its sights on reshaping its physical space to mirror its storied past and ambitious future.

The renovation project is driven by a profound vision that seeks to align the brand’s physical presence with its rich heritage and commitment to craftsmanship. Chief executive officer, Cheri Brunt says “My vision was to create a Studio that reflects the heart and soul of our craftsmanship and the incredible talent behind it. I wanted this new Studio to pay homage to the 100-year Bell & Brunt legacy, the heritage of my family, and to be a space where our customers can have a celebratory experience in capturing their stories of love in our world-class pieces.”

Brunt’s vision is slowly taking shape as the renovation progresses, with key design elements reflecting both the evolution of the Bell & Brunt brand and its steadfast commitment to its roots. The integration of cutting-edge work health safety features, including a hydrogen welding system and custom-built extraction, promises a workspace that prioritises both artisanal tradition and modern innovation.

A cornerstone of the renovation effort is the creation of a live workshop with distinct areas tailored to different stages of jewellery-making. This innovative approach not only enhances workflow efficiency but also invites customers to witness the intricate craftsmanship behind each piece firsthand.

Inspired by the 1920s Art Deco style, the renovated space will pay homage to Bell & Brunt’s inception era while incorporating modern amenities to elevate the overall customer experience. Historical displays, including preserved tools and equipment from the company’s early days, will serve as reminders of its enduring legacy.

However, the journey towards transformation has not been without its challenges. Unforeseen obstacles, ranging from structural surprises to logistical constraints, have tested the resilience of the renovation team. Yet, these challenges have only strengthened the team’s resolve to deliver a space that embodies the spirit of Bell & Brunt’s heritage and dedication to excellence.

By embracing its origins and embracing innovation, the company aims to create a space that not only showcases its craftsmanship but also serves as a beacon of inspiration for generations to come.

As the renovation journey continues, Bell & Brunt remains committed to preserving its legacy while embracing the future with open arms. With each passing day, the vision of a revitalised studio draws closer to reality, promising a new chapter in the company’s illustrious history.
