The high price of gold has led to bonded metals and lightweight designs becoming the key trends, according to key Australian buyers, retailers and manufacturers who attended the Vicenza Winter fair last week.
The Vicenza Winter fair, which was co-located with the T-GOLD event for gold processing technology and machinery, attracted over 29,000 visitors from around the world who saw 1500 exhibitors from 120 countries.
Shiels managing director Albert Bensimon was one of the Australian buyers at the fair and he claims that after attending many times previously, this was one of the best Vinceza fairs he has attended.
“This particular year is probably the best I’ve ever seen it,” he said.
“The innovation that has taken place due to the high price of gold is outstanding.
“There’s a lot of bonded material and mixed metal material and designs in very light weights,” he told Jewellery World at the exhibition.
