Ben Southall, the 34-year-old Brit who recently won ‘The Best Job in the World’ as caretaker of Hamilton Island, has now being appointed brand ambassador for Alpina Adventure watches.

According to Swiss watch manufacturer Alpina Genève, the company’s Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Metres watch is “tailor-made for the modern-day Robinson Crusoe”.

“The watch is the perfect wrist instrument for the execution of his duties and timely investigation of the Great Barrier Reef islands,” a spokesperson said.

Southall “won” the six-month job on Hamilton Island in an international competition organised by Tourism Queensland which attracted 36,648 applicants from 201 countries.

In his role as island caretaker, Southall is required to “explore the islands of the Great Barrier Reef, swim, scuba-dive, make friends with the locals and generally enjoy the tropical Queensland climate and lifestyle”.
