International Jewellery London 2013, the leading UK jewellery buying event, has been declared “a tremendous success” by high profile designers and retailers, major brands and the IJL show team.
Event director Sam Willoughby said the Fair’s array of new features, quality high-end design, stunning runway shows, exclusive previews and inspiring trends brought together and impressed both the UK and international jewellery industry.
“IJL really is the ultimate UK jewellery experience and we were thrilled with the reaction from retailers and buyers to the 2013 show, as well as excellent reports from designers and brands,” he said.
“It was an enjoyable show, and importantly, a commercial success for many. As the show closed, we were already over 60 percent rebooked for the 2014 event.”
Held at Earls Court, the Fair boasted “550 carefully selected brands, designers and manufacturers showcasing their work, including 177 new companies”.
“Alongside the best in British design, top brands from 33 countries were featured, making it a truly international event ahead of the Fair’s 2014 move to Olympia.”
Willoughby said that IJL is seen as a barometer for the jewellery industry ahead of coming seasons, and the productive vibe at this year’s Fair was noticed by many including local bridal jewellery brand Brown & Newirth.
Director John Ball said he was thrilled with this year’s Fair.
“Brown & Newirth have been supporting International Jewellery London for over 20 years,” he said.
“As such, we have experienced both the highs and of course, the lows.
“I am absolutely delighted to announce that the 2013 event has been Brown & Newirth’s best ever, which is testament to the work that both my development team put in throughout the year and the team at Reed Exhibitions.”
At the Fair Willoughby also announced that a new ‘Luxury by IJL’ trade event will be held consecutively with IJL 2014 at Olympia, London from August 31 September 2.
