Sydney police have seized counterfeit jewellery, worth an estimated $300,000 if sold as genuine items, from a jewellery store in the Westfield Hurstville Shopping Centre.
The police found 172 pieces of allegedly counterfeit jewellery on display in the store and a further 1017 items of allegedly fake jewellery in a storage area during a raid on Thursday morning.
According to the police, the jewellery seized mimicked brand names of “high-range, quality goods” such as Tiffany’s.
The store’s 34-year-old owner is expected to be charged for breaching the Trade Marks Act 1995 with the possession, display and sale of the jewellery.
