Pandora managing director Karin Adcock is one of 16 finalists in the 2010 Telstra NSW Business Women’s Awards which will be announced this week.
Adcock secured the Australian distribution of Pandora in 2004 and has since developed the company into a highly profitable business with 280 staff, 34 branded concept stores and 732 retail accounts in Australia and New Zealand – and sales totaling $118 million and $188 million in 2008 and 2009.
The other finalists in the Awards include a physiotherapist who has developed an online workstation safety package, a Loreto nun who runs programs assisting teenage mothers in Western NSW, the leader of one of Australia’s largest providers of foster care services, and a Boronia Park woman who invented a spray-on make-up tool for people with scarring and skin conditions.
Telstra chief marketing officer and Telstra Business Women’s Awards ambassador, Kate McKenzie, said the NSW finalists were a diverse group of successful business women whose achievements provided inspiration for the careers of countless others.
“Telstra congratulates the 2010 finalists from NSW for the leadership, innovation and hard work they have displayed throughout their careers,” she said.
“The finalists from NSW this year join the tradition of women who have made significant contributions both across the state and within their local communities,” Ms McKenzie said.
The winners of the 2010 Telstra NSW Business Women’s Awards will be announced at a presentation luncheon on Friday (September 24) at the Westin Sydney Grand Ballroom in Sydney.
Winners of the NSW Awards will receive a share of $200,000 in cash and prizes, and will proceed to the national finals of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards which will be announced in Melbourne on November 11.
