Otazu jewellery adorns the necks, ears and wrists of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte in the latest Sex and the City movie – and is now also playing a starring role in Australian jewellery retail stores.
The nine Otazu jewellery pieces, which were custom-made for the movie by New York designer Rodrigo Otazu, are being distributed locally by Melbourne-based Liberta Jewel.
Liberta Jewel director Jane Cox said the company’s entire Otazu jewellery range has been selling extremely well since the much-awaited movie premiered last month.
“The public’s response to the Sex and the City collection has been rapturous,” she said, “but people are also buying other pieces in the Otazu range as well.”
Cox said the Otazu jewellery collection is currently made up of around 400 pieces with retail prices ranging from around $120 to $2500.
The nine pieces (one neckpiece, 3 bracelets and 5 pairs of earrings) in the Sex and the City 2 collection retail for around $450 each.
Liberta Jewel launched the Otazu jewellery range at Reed Gift Fair in Melbourne last August.
“The response to the range was immediately positive as there really is nothing else like Otazu on the market,” said Cox. “The range is made up of high-end costume jewellery pieces featuring Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones and freshwater pearls in unique high-quality designs.”
Liberta Jewel plans to display the Sex and the City 2 collection at the Melbourne Reed Gift Fair in August.
