Chanel has paid tribute to its iconic scent, Chanel No. 5, with a high jewellery collection called Collection No 5.
Designed by Patrice Leguéreau, director of Chanel’s Fine Jewellery Creation Studio, the collection comprises 123 jewellery pieces, each inspired by different elements of the perfume. The central piece in the collection is the 55.55 necklace, featuring an enormous 55.55-carat emerald-cut diamond in the pendant, set in 18-carat white gold bezel and framed by a silhouette of the Chanel No 5 bottle. The bottle’s stopper is recreated in white gold and diamonds and the diamond studded clasp is shaped like the number 5, Coco’s lucky number. A cascade of pear-shaped diamonds falls from the base of the “bottle.”
The necklace is not for sale, as it is intended to be kept in the Maison’s archive, the Patrimoine de Chanel, in Paris.
