JAA members voted to adopt a new Constitution and elect a new, much smaller, Board at the association’s AGM on September 1.
JAA president Selwyn Brandt said “we are very pleased that members unanimously voted to support the new Constitution that will ensure the organisation is able to move forward in a positive way – supporting and protecting the entire industry.
“Over the past twelve months the board and management have worked meticulously on the changes,” he said. “Significant time and effort has been put into reviewing every component. We also spent considerable time talking to members and seeking their input. We wanted to have transparency in the processes from start to end.”
Under the new structure, the JAA has reduced the size of its board from 14 members to six. The new board members are:
Selwyn Brandt, managing director, House of Jewellery – elected director
Toby Bensimon, managing director, Shiels/Grahams Jewellers – elected director
Ronnie Bauer, Director, Klepners – retail member
Laura Sawade, marketing manager, Peter W Beck – supplier member
Colin Pocklington, managing director, Nationwide Jewellers – representative of a buying group entity.
A sixth board member will be elected at a later date.
The new board will commence on January 1.
