The Politecnico di Milano will conduct its first international course in eco-sustainable jewellery design from March 14 to March 19 next year.
Organised in cooperation with CIBJO and the World Jewellery Confederation Education Foundation, the course will be made up of two parts – the theory of eco-sustainable jewellery (7 hours) and a hands-on workshop (28 hours).
Course coordinator Professor Alba Cappellieri said “eco-sustainable jewellery” refers to jewellery that promotes both social and environmental sustainability.
“That means it complies with the principle that it meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
He said the course will be conducted in English at the Politecnico di Milano’s POLI design campus in Milan by lecturers from the design department and “world renowned experts in sustainable jewellery design”.
Applicants for the course should be professional jewellers or first and second level graduates holding a high school-level diploma from an art school or goldsmith institute.
The eco-sustainable jewellery design course costs €1000 plus 20 percent VAT.
