The United State’s first solid gold vending machine was launched at JCK Las Vegas this month.
The Gold Rush Kiosk features a 42-inch touch screen machine that allows customers to easily purchase solid 24 carat gold bar cards in six weights (0.5g, 1g, 2g, 3g, 5g and 10g) using cash or credit card.
According to the Korean manufacturer, Hon Group, the vending machine (which was recently launched in Korea) will soon be operating in Las Vegas hotels, casinos, cruise lines, airports, malls, department stores and jewellery stores.
“The Gold Rush Kiosk’s success in Korea will translate well in the American consumer market,” said Hon Group general manager David Lee.
“We believe the Kiosk will not only dispense value but will also serve as an excellent advertising model for companies wishing to raise awareness among the tourism industry.”
He added that the gold bar cards made excellent gifts as “customers can select and alter the design on the card and also create personalised messages”.
The price of the gold bar cards varies correspondingly with the global market price of gold.
