Held at the Westin Hotel on April 21, the Awards ceremony was attended by national finalists, sponsors and dignitaries including the Federal Minister for Small Business, Brendan O’Connor and the NSW Minister for Small Business, Katrina Hodgkinson.
Speaking after Dracakis’s win, Theodore Dracakis, the manager of Dracakis’s boutique in Mosman, said the family business was honoured to take home the national prize.
“These awards acknowledge the overall success of small businesses, recognising everything from exceptional levels of customer service to contributions made in the local community,” he said.
“Along with the quality of our products it is these aspects of our business that my brothers (Peter and Nicholas) and I pride ourselves on.”
Paul Dracakis, the founder of Dracakis, added that the family was “surprised and humbled” to win the award.
“We cannot believe it,” he said.
“After winning the award for NSW/ACT in 2007 we didn’t even dream we could go on to win the national award this year.
“It is a great honour as there are there are many successful jewellers in Australia.”
Dracakis Jewellers is a traditional family jewellery business with “two generations working together” in their Mosman and Warringah Mall boutiques.
