A special judges’ selection of the entries in the Diamond Guild Australia – Harpers Bazaar Design Awards 2009 will be on display at this year’s JAA International Jewellery Fair in Sydney.
Expertise Events managing director Gary Fitz-Roy said the inclusion of the Awards at the Fair was an exciting addition to this year’s program.
The biennial awards competition is open to “invited” jewellery designers from around Australia.
According to Diamond Guild Australia chairman Robert Musson, entries in the Diamond Guild Australia – Harpers Bazaar Design Awards will be judged on “uniqueness, innovation and originality” in five categories: Solitaire, Fancy Fancy (fancy cuts and colours), Gents, Reinvention (remodeled piece) and Red Carpet.
Musson said all entries must feature only natural diamond(s) “free from any enhancements and treatments” and must be made “using predominantly precious metals”.
The JAA International Jewellery Fair will be held at the Sydney Exhibition Centre from August 30 to September 1.
