JAA President’s Message – June 2021
We are only a few weeks away until entries in the 26th instalment of the JAA Australasian Jewellery Awards are due, and anticipation is certainly building. We hope those designs are pushing your creative boundaries and technical abilities.
Whilst you take a break from the bench or computer, I’d like to tell you about the upcoming industry events in my diary, and why you should attend.
Jewellery Industry Summit and Cocktail Party
We are excited to start our 90-year celebrations at the Jewellery Industry Summit, at the National Wine Centre of Adelaide from 9-10 July. On Friday, 9th July the JAA along with event organiser, Moore Events, we are hosting a cocktail party to celebrate this worthy milestone. You simply need to register your attendance at the Jewellery Industry Summit and select a Summit Session ticket to confirm your attendance. Registration is free of charge, so we encourage you to not only attend to further your business skills, but to join the festivities.
The Jewellery Industry Summit provides Australian jewellery businesses with an industry leading event, showcasing the finest services to enhance and improve your next year in the market. The Summit schedule includes workshops covering business coaching, jewellery design rendering and gem training for you and your staff, hallmarking and advertising to name a few; see exhibitors, though not the ones you may be used to, these exhibitors are those that offer auxiliary services to our industry; and hear from speakers who will cover topics such as technology, retail success, building a brand and global trends.
Jewellery Industry Fair
The Jewellery Industry Fair (organised by Jewellery Industry Network is taking place from Sunday, 1 August to Monday, 2 August at the Timber Yard in Port Melbourne. The Fair will host live jewellery manufacturing demonstrations, you will be able to meet with new and familiar suppliers to build your range in time for Christmas trade, networking with like-minded individuals as well as enjoying complimentary oysters and prosecco!
In addition, there will be free shuttle buses to the Melbourne Gift Fair.
JAA Soiree – Awards presentation and 90th celebration
The JAA will be hosting a soiree to commemorate 90-years of supporting the jewellery industry and what better way than marking this occasion with announcing the winners of the 2021 JAA Australasian Jewellery Awards. The soiree will take place on Sunday, 1 August at the Evergreen, Crown Melbourne. The Evergreen is the newest space within Crown and is a sanctuary of contemporary luxury, showcasing panoramic city views. This ticket-only event is a must attend event and is the first time in over 20 years that the JAA Awards presentation has been held in Melbourne. Full details can be found at jaa.com.au/awards.
