Swarovski has unveiled its Spring Summer 2015 collections with a party at the Lions Gate Lodge in Sydney’s Botanic Gardens. The garden party, which attracted celebrity guests including Laura Dundovic, Tanja Gacic, Magdalena Roze and Erin Holland, provided the perfect backdrop for the launch of the brand’s new core collection which was inspired by “a dreamlike and modern garden”. Creative director Nathalie Colins said nature has always held a particular significance for Swarovski.
“The Crystal Garden collection reaffirms the brand’s passion for modernity, which is why we have turned to flora, fauna, and insects for inspiration to create fluid and feminine lines and motifs.”
She said the garden theme was expressed with light and airy designs featuring “metal openwork, organic forms, and oval-, navette- and pear-cut stones to subtly evoke elegant leaves and petals”.
Colins stressed however that the theme was primarily expressed through colours ranging from “the softness of springtime pastel shades to summer’s luxurious and vibrant palette”.
Swarovski also launched its latest atelier collections – featuring collaborations with avant-garde fashion house Viktor&Rolf, Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen and Chinese fashion designer Masha Ma –, at the garden party.
The Viktor&Rolf ‘Red Velvet Rock’ collection features flocked red velvet and the Vincent Van Duysen ‘Frost’ collection features crystals in “fascinating sculptural shapes” while the Masha Ma ‘Epiphyllum’ collection features delicate and intricately worked designs “inspired by the romance of the Epiphyllum or midnight flower, which blooms in the darkness, displaying a single moment of pure radiance before vanishing forever”.
