Tiffany & Co has celebrated the opening of its flagship store on the Champs-Elysées in Paris with a star-studded party in the 976-square-metre store.

Speaking at the gala event, Tiffany & Co president Frédéric Cumenal, said the store’s “preeminent location places Tiffany & Co in the heart of a fabled city that draws people from all over the world”.

“Our store at 62 Champs-Elysées is the ultimate symbol of Tiffany as a truly global luxury brand.”

Tiffany & Co Europe group vice president Florence Rollet, added that the store’s opening underscores the jeweller’s “commitment to business development in France and Europe”.

The exterior of the three-level store features details of the entrance to the jeweller’s Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York, including the Art Deco-style stainless steel doors and the wheat leaf pattern etched onto its windows and columns.

Tiffany’s new flagship at 62 Champs-Elysées in Paris. Inside, the store combines “the energy of New York with the elegance of Paris” with “luxurious private salons and windows that afford maximum natural light for the proper viewing of the world’s most beautiful diamonds”.

The three levels are connected by a Calacatta marble and limestone staircase that encircles a “magnificent chandelier” that “cascades to the ground floor”. Other interior details include gilded walnut panelling, iridescent wall coverings, and carpeting with magnolias patterned after the stained-glass masterworks of Louis Comfort Tiffany, son of the company’s founder Charles Lewis Tiffany.

Established in 1837 and headquartered in New York, the 177-year-old Tiffany & Co opened its first store in Paris in 1868.

The company currently operates 64 stores in the US and over 100 stores internationally.
