Avi Paz has been re-elected as president of the Israel Diamond Exchange for his third and final term with a 73 percent majority.
Paz was re-elected at the Exchange’s biennial elections which also saw the election of a new board.
Paz said he was pleased with the “vote of confidence” in the election which saw almost 70 percent of the more than 2500 IDE members cast their votes.
“Our industry faces a multitude of challenges in the coming year and there is a lot of work waiting for the new board and myself,” he said. “We will all work hard to turn these challenging times into new opportunities.”

World Federation of Diamond Bourses secretary general and executive director Michael Vaughan said he wished Paz and his board “a successful and fruitful term in office”.

“His (Paz’s) re-election as IDE president will allow him to run for re-election as WFDB president at the next World Diamond Congress in 2010,” he said.
