MVI Marketing has launched the world’s first jewellery search engine – www.JewelrySpotter.com.
MVI Marketing CEO Marty Hurwitz said the portal, which lists retailers’ jewellery items for “free”, enables consumers to search and compare prices for jewellery items at one site.
“We don’t know much about when the recession will end for consumers but one thing is certain, consumers will never shop the same way for jewellery again,” he said.
“Anyone expecting to rely on their old business model to sell to consumers in the post-recession period is very likely to fail.
“The consumers who historically have driven jewellery sales at retail are ageing and their numbers are shrinking. The younger demographic that will drive the future of the retail jewellery business is evolving, increasing their disposable income and using the web for all manner of shopping.”
Consumers visiting www.JewelrySpotter.com can search for jewellery using five pull-down menus (type, category, metal, stone and price) to refine their search.
Jewellery retailers with ecommerce websites can list their prices for “free” – they will, according to Hurwitz, only be charged for their listing when a consumer clicks on their offer.
“Australian retailers with e-commerce sites can participate but they have to be able to ship to international destinations,” he said.
