International gemmological expert Ted Themelis will share his first-hand knowledge of ruby and sapphire treatments in a series of seminars around Australia this month.
For over three decades Themelis has been enhancing gemstones and maintaining state-of-the-art gemstone treatment laboratories in the USA, Thailand and Europe.
In Australia Themelis will present eight one-day seminars on ruby and sapphire treatments funded and supported by the Gemmological Association of Australia.
According to the GAA, the courses (which cover diffusion, heat and beryllium treatments, fracture-filling processes and pricing structures) are essential to anyone buying or selling rubies and sapphires.
All attendees will receive a set of sample stones, and National Council of Jewellery Valuers members will gain eight update education points.
The seminars will be held in Perth (August 11 and 12), Brisbane (August 14 and 15), Sydney (August 21 and 22) and Melbourne (August 24 and 25-26).
