Paul Kornmehl, the founder of Peekays Findings, passed away peacefully at home last month (October) aged 90.

Paul set up Peekays Jewellery Centre in the 1980s after earlier success in the local jewellery industry with IBS (an importer of Italian gold and sterling silver jewellery) and The Jewellery Centres (a supplier of jewellery shop fittings).

A dynamic man, Paul handed over the daily running of Peekays to his daughter Anita in 1992 while he concentrated on other business activities.

Paul and Anita shared offices and ran their businesses side by side with Paul always maintaining an interest in the jewellery industry.

Even after having a stroke in 2001, Paul still managed to come into the business’s Sydney city offices once a week until the week before his passing.
