The National Council of Jewellery Valuers is planning to run a series of HRD Antwerp Institute of Gemmology workshops and diamond grading courses in Australia this year.
The 2-day workshops will focus on the identification of treated diamonds and simulants while the 12-day certified diamond grader courses will teach participants how to grade diamonds using a gemmological microscope and loupe.
NCJV president Kym Hughes said it was an amazing opportunity for Australians to complete the “highly valued” workshops and courses in their own country.
At this stage, the NCJV has not set final dates or venues for the workshops and courses but they are likely to be held in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide between July and September.
“To determine how many courses are needed we are seeking expressions-of-interest from the industry,” said Hughes.
The workshops, which cost $995 (including GST), and the courses, which cost $3360 (including GST), are each limited to just 15 students.

The National Council of Jewellery Valuers (NCJV) was established in 1984 to “promote and maintain the highest professional standards for jewellery and fine arts valuation in Australia”.
